Black Belt is a 1986 side-scrolling beat ’em up for the Sega Master System in which players control martial artist Riki as he fights through waves of enemies to rescue his girlfriend, Kyoko, from the villainous Wang. Across several action-packed chapters, Riki uses punches, kicks and powerful jumping attacks against thugs, ninjas and heavily armed fighters before facing challenging bosses in one-on-one battles. Originally released in Japan as a game based on the manga and anime Fist of the North Star, the international version replaced the licensed characters and visuals, but retained its fast combat, demanding difficulty and memorable martial-arts action.
