Command & Conquer: Red Alert, released for DOS and Windows in 1996 by Westwood Studios, was a prequel to the original Command & Conquer and one of the most beloved RTS games of its era. Set in an alternate history where Albert Einstein travels back in time to eliminate Hitler, the resulting power vacuum leads to a global war between the Allied Forces and the Soviet Union. The game built upon the classic C&C formula with faster gameplay, improved unit balance, and an expanded tech tree that included naval warfare—introducing ships and submarines for the first time in the series. Each faction featured unique units and strategies, from the Allies’ high-tech precision weapons to the Soviets’ brute-force tanks and air power.
