The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall is one of the most ambitious role-playing games of the DOS era, offering a massive open world filled with cities, dungeons, guilds, temples, political factions, and endless opportunities for exploration. Unlike many RPGs of its time, it gave players a remarkable level of freedom, allowing them to shape their character, accept quests, travel across a huge province, buy property, join organizations, and get lost in a world that often felt larger than the technology should have allowed. Its presentation and controls can feel rough today, but the scale, atmosphere, and role-playing depth remain impressive even by modern standards. Daggerfall is remembered not just as an old fantasy RPG, but as a bold experiment in open-world design that helped define what The Elder Scrolls series would eventually become. DOS
