Heavyweight Champ is a 1991 boxing game for the Sega Master System in which players enter the ring against a series of increasingly skilled opponents on their journey toward the heavyweight championship. Fighters can throw jabs, hooks, uppercuts and body blows while blocking attacks, controlling their footwork and watching their stamina throughout each bout. Originally released in North America as James “Buster” Douglas Knockout Boxing, the international version replaced the licensed boxer with fictional characters while retaining the same strategic, arcade-style gameplay, colourful presentation and challenging championship progression.
