Simple on the surface but very clever in design, the game follows Mario as he runs, jumps, collects coins, breaks blocks, enters pipes, and battles through the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Princess Toadstool from Bowser. What makes it still memorable is how clean and easy it feels to play, with tight controls, iconic music, hidden secrets, and level design that teaches players naturally as they go.
